Berthe Morisot
Musée d'Orsay offers you a great opportunity to celebrate Berthe Morisot as a true leader of the Impressionist movement.
From 18/06/2019 to 22/09/2019
There are many names that come to mind when we think of the French Impressionist movement of the 1860s. Monet and Renoir immediately stand out thanks to their permanent place in national collections. The men of the era remain heavily represented – the women less so. A new exhibition for Summer 2019 at Musee D’Orsay looks to rectify that to some extent. They are planning a show that centers on the stunning work of Berthe Morisot, one of the overlooked female figures of the era.
Morisot was a respected artist with a clear talent for capturing her subjects in a specific moment. Yet, she has been overlooked more recently. Her paintings capture a sense of Paris life across different settings and classes. They showcase moments of the late 1800s with speed, fluidity, and sensitivity. This show is a great opportunity to relive these moments and celebrate Morisot as a true leader of the Impressionist movement.
