The new Body and Soul sculpture exhibition in the Louvre for 2020 are set to be an interesting insight into different themes in the time of Donatello and Michelangelo. There are three main areas to explore here. The first is “Fury and Grace” which looks at the more complex compositions and the new interest in body movements. From there, viewers move into “Affect and Persuasiveness” where the artists began to attempt adding emotions to the work Then there is “From Dionysos to Apollo” which focuses on the idea of classical antiquity.

There is a lot to see here in both the sculptures and the complimentary materials exhibited alongside them. If you are unfamiliar with classical sculpture but want to learn more, this is a great place to start because of the themes and the different pieces across the exhibition space. The show runs from May 6th to August 17th. Don't miss out.
