From
February 24 to May 23, 2016, the Centre Pompidou will be hosting a new free
exhibition that goes back to the 80s, entitled Les année 80, l'Insoutenable Légèreté.
With short movies and photographs selected from the center’s private collections, the Centre Pompidou offers a new crossing of the 1980s, the contrasted and paradoxical decade. The exhibition brings together about 60 works of leading photographers of the 80s.
The 1980s were a crucial era for photography as an art and heritage in France. The exhibition is thus offering the opportunity to discover the artistic realizations of this special era, by bringing together a selection of renowned works and less known ones to unveil some of the aesthetic features of that time.
For his new exhibition at the Gallery of Photography, the Centre Pompidou takes us into the whimsical and complex world of photography and 80s, from Florence Paradeis to Jean-Paul Goude, Karen Knorr, through Martin Parr and Pierre & Gilles, we’ll be discovering around 60 of the most influential works of the 80s.
Mark your calendars, Les Années 80, l'Insoutenable Légèreté will run from February 24 to May 23, 2016, do not miss it, it’s for free!
